It is always recommended to have at least 30% of free hard drive space (or SSD volume) left after installing any game, and trying to install a game without such free space can lead to issues later. The current BFBC2 install (with the latest patch) is 8.20gigs but you should think of it as 15gigs and base your space requirements on that (some digital installs can reach 10gigs).
